After a terrible drive through traffic along the Pacific Coast Highway & San Francisco on Memorial Day Weekend, the Red Roof Plus+ San Francisco Airport in Burlingame was a welcome sight for this weary traveler!
Rolling into the Red Roof PLUS+ parking lot after such a long day of travel, all any traveler wants is a speedy check-in and friendly staff – and that’s exactly the treatment I received! Greeted by Victor at the front desk, I quickly had my key cards in hand and proceeded to my Premium King Room. Within a few minutes of settling in, I received a phone call from another staff member, Charles, to make sure that my accommodations were in tiptop shape. The Red Roof PLUS+ locations boast NextLevel Service — with enhanced customer service training and elevated customer interaction — which was very evident to me.
Booked for two nights, I discovered an extremely spacious room that included a very large work area. The room was equipped with new furniture, a plush pillow-top mattress, a large flat-screen TV, modern wood-like flooring, and a 100% smoke-free designation. A definite positive for me was how clean the entire room and bathroom were! You don’t always get that in hotels and I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness and condition of the room. A big plus (no pun intended) in my book is also a room that has several electrical outlets. As a travel blogger and photographer, there is always something that needs to be charged while I’m on the road — computer, camera batteries, cell phone, etc. I was pleased to find 6+ outlets for all my charging needs!
After my long battle with traffic, I had no desire to drive into the city on my first night. I was very happy to find that there were many Uber cars in the area and only cost $30 each way — a modest fare if traveling with a few people and cheaper than most taxis. I found that the hotel was very conveniently located to the main highway that led to San Francisco and most of the other attractions of interest. With many gas stations nearby, it was a breeze to gas up and make the 30 minute ride to many of the Bay Area’s most famous attractions.
So, if you find yourself in the San Francisco area, I certainly recommend you stay at this hotel. It’s got all the modern amenities and facilitates your connection to the San Francisco Airport, downtown San Francisco, as well as the surrounding attractions — Golden Gate Park, AT&T Park, Oakland, the California Coast, and beyond. I arrived in San Francisco hoping for a place that was perfect for a weary traveler and that’s exactly what I found. Just like their website says: “Adding more WOW to your stay!”
Red Roof is currently upgrading their Premium rooms at nearly 40 PLUS+ properties (Red Roof’s higher-end line) across the United States and are rolling out more PLUS+ locations in the near future.
The breakdown:
- Location: Three miles from the San Francisco Airport & 30 minutes from downtown San Francisco. Complimentary 24 hour airport shuttle service.
- Clientele: Great for families and business travelers alike.
- Technology: Fast wi-fi, free for an unlimited number of devices. 6+ electrical outlets for all your technology charging needs.
- Beds: Plush pillow-top mattress. Lots of pillows. No problem sleeping for the easy-sleeper and the insomniac.
- Rooms: Very nice size. Perfect for a traveling couple. All rooms are 100% smoke-free!
- Amenities: Free wi-fi, telephone, desk with a proper office chair, armchair, microwave, mini-refrigerator, Seattle’s Best In-Room Coffee, outdoor seasonal heated pool, fitness center (located across the street), 37″ flat-screen TV, iron/ironing board, and hair dryer .
- Bathroom: Plenty of soaps, towels, and a powerful shower head with multiple settings and plenty of hot water. Modern vessel sink.
- Dining: Leann’s Family Restaurant on site, open 24 hours
- Staff: The entire crew is the best in the business. Very friendly and helpful. The NextLevel Service certainly shines through!
- Cleanliness: Rooms are very clean!
- Distractions: None to speak of.
- Attractions: Downtown San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco Bay Tours
- Snacks & Such: Complimentary welcome snack box containing bottled water, popcorn, orange juice, trail mix and two Nature Valley granola bars. Countless stores within a couple minutes’ drive, plenty of delivery options.
- Value: If you aren’t there in high season, it’s a score. During high season (Memorial Day to Labor Day), prices can easily be double. However, that’s the norm across the entire area. Highly recommended any time of year.
