Sleepy Hollow, New York is famously known for the tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman — the legend responsible for bringing droves of visitors to this area along the Hudson River every October. While many come for the terror of the local haunted Halloween events, there is a much more family-friendly attraction that the Hudson Valley has to offer.
The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze is a display that features over 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins in a breathtaking walk-through experience. Set at the historic Van Cortlandt Manor, you’ll have the chance to stroll down Pumpkin Promenade and cross the impressive Pumpkin Zee Bridge. Make sure to do a little stargazing inside the colorful Pumpkin Planetarium, before moving on to a scene filled with dinosaurs made entirely of jack o’lanterns. A circus train with animals, a jack-in-the-box trio, a sea serpent, and a giant spider web are just a few additional displays that can be enjoyed at the Pumpkin Blaze.
The Blaze is open to visitors for 38 nights throughout October and November, including Halloween night and weekends in November. Tickets sell out quickly, so be sure to reserve your evening of choice well in advance.
Enjoy these photos from my own experience at the Pumpkin Blaze, then reserve a memorable night for your own family at this unique Halloween attraction!
