While Philadelphia is home to the most murals in the United States, there is one project that stands out above all the rest.
Literally above, the Love Letters For You is a series of 50 rooftop murals located along Market Street in West Philadelphia. Artist Steve Powers, who hails from West Philly, describes the project as “a letter for one, with meaning for all”. Collectively the murals express a love letter from a guy to a girl, from an artist to his hometown, and from local residents to their neighborhood. The Love Letters are best viewed from the Market/Frankford El, the elevated train along Market Street.
Although there are fifty murals in the Love Letter For You series, here is a small sample for you to enjoy and contemplate how they might apply to your own relationships on Valentine’s Day.
